Located in the heart of Wellington, you will find Oude Wellington. Historical Cape Dutch gables, mighty white washed walls and hospitality under shady Oaks is not all you will find on this wine estate in South Africa. Dine at the onsite country a la carte restaurant, enjoy the wines and taste the cognac like brandy.
The farm may have been built in 1790 but the luxury was added recently. The motto of 'we wine and dine and love company' best describes the way of life for the hosts of the property. The hosts have travelled a lot and have much to share with their local and international guests at this wine estate in South Africa.
A glass of wine is always available when you arrive. Another attraction are the alpacas bred on this wine estate in South Africa. Alpacas originate from the Andes Mountains in South America, where the Incas admired their fine fleece which is used for making of high quality garments.
Alpacas live up to 25 years and are semi domestic. They make great pets and are very soft natured. Their unique humming sounds are soft and friendly. Only white alpacas are bred on the farm although there are more than 20 colours with all shades of brown and even grey and black.
The area of Wellington is the main producer of stockies (young wine nursing) for the entire wine industry. Dried fruit, leather products and spectacular landscape invite the visitor to stay and experience hospitality and nature. Several private cellars are proud to present their award-winning wines, which are among the best the cape has to offer.
Oude Wellington Wine Estate in South Africa has breathtaking views of the picturesque Bovlei valley. One of the first private cellars in Wellington, it is seeing its 10th harvest and has consistently produced both red and white wines. But wine is only one facet of the Oude Wellington experience.
